Keep the Music Alive Bursary

“Keep The Music Alive” (KTMA) is an initiative of the Sackville Community Band Society (SCBS). Most musicians in SCBS learned to play their instruments in Junior and Senior High School and The Society is committed to supporting the musicians of tomorrow by financially supporting young concert band musicians in the province of Nova Scotia. 

The Sackville Community Band Society has established an annual bursary for concert band students attending Nova Scotia Junior and Senior High Schools.  The Society will present two $500 bursaries (subject to available funding) to students demonstrating the desire and potential to further their studies within the genre of concert band.  Announcement of winners and presentation of awards will be made over the summer.

The “Keep the Music Alive” Bursary may be used to support activities such as (but not limited to): 

  • Instrument rental or purchase for students acquiring a better instrument in order to reach their musical potential; 
  • Financial assistance for Grade 12 students accepted to an accredited Canadian university instrumental music program;
  • Assistance for students to attend advanced study sessions, seminars and workshops with professional musicians; and
  • Assistance for students attending advanced band programs or camps.

The Sackville Community Band Society is a registered Canadian charitySupporters of the Society and/or its “Keep The Music Alive” fund will be provided receipts for tax purposes.
